Power in Numbers
- Grab a friend
- Join a group
- Run to lunch, coffee
Keep Feet Toasty
- Shoes w/ little to no mesh
- Wicking socks like SmartWool – NO COTTON
- Plastic bags!!
Dress for Success
- Rule of Thumb – Dress like it’s 10-20deg warmer
- Layers, layers, layers
- Cover head, hands
Light it Up!
- Reflective everything
- Flashing lights
- Headlamp
Warm Up Well
- Cold muscles need more warm up time
- Dynamic stretching
- Start slow, build pace gradually
Avoid “Cool Down”
- Core temps drop quickly
- Change clothing immediately
- Get hot liquids in (soup, hot chocolate – great for recovery too)
Route Plan
- Start into the wind, finish w/ wind at back
- Don’t obsess over pace times
- Out & backs are great
