Power in Numbers

  • Grab a friend
  • Join a group
  • Run to lunch, coffee

Keep Feet Toasty

  • Shoes w/ little to no mesh
  • Wicking socks like SmartWool – NO COTTON
  • Plastic bags!!

Dress for Success

  • Rule of Thumb – Dress like it’s 10-20deg warmer
  • Layers, layers, layers
  • Cover head, hands

Light it Up!

  • Reflective everything
  • Flashing lights
  • Headlamp

Warm Up Well

  • Cold muscles need more warm up time
  • Dynamic stretching
  • Start slow, build pace gradually

Avoid “Cool Down”

  • Core temps drop quickly
  • Change clothing immediately
  • Get hot liquids in (soup, hot chocolate – great for recovery too)

Route Plan

  • Start into the wind, finish w/ wind at back
  • Don’t obsess over pace times
  • Out & backs are great
