What are your biggest hurdles to regular exercise and/or event training?
The #1 Answer: “I don’t have TIME…”
“I don’t have time” translates to “I don’t yet see the value to make the necessary changes…”
Here are some questions to ask yourself if you are struggling to find time to train:
- What would it take to make it worth your while?
- Do you need a goal?
- Do you need an assessment of your current fitness state?
- Are there specific results in order to be convinced?
- Is a social component important?
- Will you need structure & guidance?
Some things you should examine if you are struggling to find time to train or regularly exercise:
What do you spend a significant amount of time on now?
- Track your time management for 1wk to see WHERE you are spending your time.
- Tracking your time also helps you see what you currently consider most important
- Is your time spent aligned w/ your values?
Why do you spend time on each thing?
- Is it: Relaxation, social, income? This helps to determine its value.
What are your dreams?
- Discovering what your dreams are will help you focus you on what you really value…at your core!
- Outsource, ignore, minimize everything else!
Now it’s TIME to MAKE TIME!
Get help – kids, spouse, services
- This frees up time to get to work on dreams
Go through this process frequently (weekly)
- It’s easy to fall back into old habits
- Habit change takes time & focus
- Regularly check to see if you’re really doing what you WANT to do!
