  • Read meditation books
  • Tried to do it myself

Failed Because…

  • It felt like “wasted time”
  • Misconception of what meditation is about…I thought the goal was to do nothing

Benefits

  • Health
  • Increases Immune Function
  • Decreases Pain
  • Increases Happiness
  • Increases Positive Emotion
  • Decreases Depression, Anxiety, Stress
  • Improves your ability to Regulate Emotions & Introspect

Mental Abilities

  • Improves your ability to Focus & Pay Attention
  • Improves Memory

Learned

  • Meditation is a very active process, it’s very challenging & can be very difficult
  • Point of meditation (rather than goal) is to be mindful, aware, intentional
  • When aware of your thoughts you are able to focus them
  • Being aware is the hard part
  • Much of life is spent on autopilot, habitual

Gained

  • Ability to redirect my thoughts
  • Put myself back to sleep
  • Change emotional response
  • Sense of calm to start the day
  • Greater ability to give myself & others grace

There is no success or failure…only what is.
