Why Get Up at 5:30AM to Swim?

Sometimes I forget how long I’ve been coaching & working with people.  Twenty-two years ago I started Performance High by offering part-time endurance coaching.  Then, in 2011, I added adult swim lessons & group swim workouts.  The group swim workouts are the hard one – they start at 5:30AM!  Why get up at 5:30AM to swim?  Community!  That’s where April Howell comes in!

April has been a “regular” Swim Training swimmer from the start.  Over the past 12 yrs her life has changed, but she’s always found a way to include Swim Training workouts.  For example, with her current work schedule she can only make a portion of the monthly workouts.  She could choose to opt out.  But not April!  She just keeps on coming & swimming & bringing her positive, can-do attitude.  Way to go, April!!

In April’s own words:

“Why have I been showing up to 5:30AM Swim Training workouts for the past 12 years??  Well, primarily I come for the ‘Community’!  Over the years our swim group has turned into a solid Community that works hard & supports each other.  To help us get through the challenging workouts everyone laughs & encourages one another.  We celebrate each other’s success & motivate one another when we struggle.  I am thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of this Community for so many years!  And thank you, Coach Michelle, for motivating me to get up at 4:15AM to put on a swimsuit!”
