Every year I plant a basil plant…and this year…wow…it looks amazing!\u00a0 It must really have liked all of those 100+ deg days we had because it’s turned into a little basil bush!\u00a0 I’ve certainly made my share of pesto.\u00a0 But to shake things up a bit I went looking for another basil sauce recipe.\u00a0 Why didn’t I think of chimichurri before…?\u00a0 It’s fabulous on any protein…and so easy!<\/p>\r\n

Ingredients<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\n
• 1-1\/2<\/span>\u00a0c<\/span> basil<\/span>\u00a0leaves<\/span><\/li>\r\n
• 1\/4<\/span>\u00a0c<\/span> Italian parsley<\/span>\u00a0leaves<\/span><\/li>\r\n
• 1\/4<\/span> red onion,<\/span> chopped<\/span><\/li>\r\n
• 1\/4<\/span>\u00a0c<\/span>\u00a0olive oil<\/span><\/li>\r\n
• 2<\/span>\u00a0T<\/span>\u00a0red wine vinegar<\/span><\/li>\r\n
• 2<\/span>\u00a0T<\/span>\u00a0lemon juice<\/span><\/li>\r\n
• 2<\/span>\u00a0cloves<\/span>\u00a0garlic, <\/span>finely chopped<\/span><\/li>\r\n
• 1\/2<\/span>\u00a0t<\/span>\u00a0salt<\/span><\/li>\r\n
• Pinch<\/span> of crushed red pepper flakes<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n
  Add basil & parsley, red onion, garlic, red wine vinegar, lemon juice & red pepper flakes to a food processor or blender.<\/div>\r\n

  \u00a0<\/div>\r\n

  Pulse several times to finely chop the herbs, scraping down the sides.<\/div>\r\n

  \u00a0<\/div>\r\n

  Drizzle in the olive oil & process on medium to medium-high speed until a thick sauce forms.\u00a0 If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a bit more olive oil.<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n

  \u00a0<\/div>\r\n

  Serve with any protein.\u00a0 This is particularly good in scrambled eggs as well!<\/div>\r\n
