When I walk down the cereal aisle or take a stroll through the bulk food bins, I am continually amazed by the number of granola options.\u00a0 While I understand the appeal of quick & easy…there truthfully is nothing <\/em>that compares with the taste (and smell) of homemade granola!\u00a0 Big thanks to my friend, Patty, for sharing her recipe with me.\u00a0 For years I have enjoyed making her basic recipe as well as creating endless yummy variations!<\/p>\r\n

Ingredients<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\n
• 3 c rolled oats (not instant)<\/li>\r\n
• 1 c nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans)<\/li>\r\n
• 1 c unsweetened coconut<\/li>\r\n
• 1 T cinnamon (can also add in ginger, cardamon, allspice, cloves for flavor variations)<\/li>\r\n
• 1\/4 c coconut oil (can also use canola or any other kind of oil)<\/li>\r\n
• 1\/4 c honey or maple syrup<\/li>\r\n
• Additions:\u00a0 flax seed, sunflower seeds, oat bran, pumpkin seeds (all optional…amounts to your taste)<\/li>\r\n
• Fruit Additions:\u00a0 raisins, craisins, dried apricots (or any dried fruit you like)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

  Preheat oven to 325 deg.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

  Combine everything except the dried fruit.\u00a0 Spread onto a baking sheet & bake for 10 min.\u00a0 Stir & bake another 10 min or until browned to your satisfaction.<\/p>\r\n

  After it’s done, add in dried fruit.\u00a0 Enjoy with milk, yogurt…or just by itself!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
