- Lack of Sleep
- Infrequent eating, dieting, cal’s too low
- Dehydration
- Eliminations
Stress & Anxiety
- Adrenaline eats up blood sugar (eat right after crashing)
- Triggers cravings for CHO & Fat
- CHO boosts serotonin (calming effect)
- Fat boosts dopamine (pleasure & reward feeling)
Lack of Sleep
- Being tired increases cravings for high-energy foods like Fat & Sugar
- Quick cal’s found in junk food & desserts
Infrequent Eating, Dieting, Cal’s Too Low
- Being over-hungry and/or under-caloried increases cravings for Fat & Sugar
- Usually don’t make great food choices
- Tend to consume quick cal’s found in junk food & desserts
Dehydration
- Often mistaken for hunger
- Body needs water to process CHO
- If not enough water, CHO isn’t utilized as well…makes us feel tired…increases cravings for quick energy
Eliminations
- When you can’t have, you will want!
- Often feel like we’re not in control (“I can’t have”)
- Change statement to “I won’t have”!
