Keystone Habits: The Power to Change

“The Power of Habit, Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business” by Charles Duhigg

  • Keystone Habit:  A single habit which causes the biggest ripple effect of change in your life.
  • Negative ones are easy to spot.  
  • Eating lots of junk food
  • Gaining weight
  • Becoming more sedentary
  • Health declines
  • You don’t feel good
  • Mental health decline
  • Depression sets in
  • Work/family/social life suffers, etc, etc, etc

What are Keystone Habits?

  • Different for each person
  • Fall into 4 categories
    • Physical
    • Intellectual
    • Emotional
    • Spiritual

Physical:

  • Exercising regularly
  • Eating better quality food

Intellectual:

  • Reading books
  • Meditation

Emotional:

  • Being vulnerable
  • Working on your own shortcomings before pointing fingers at others

Spiritual:

  • Working on something bigger than yourself
  • Helping others not like you
