Ashley Kate WhittakerASHLEY KATE WHITTAKER:

I try to remember that this is a lifestyle behavior change, not a temporary fix to a “problem”.  When life gets complicated I stick by the idea that 20 minutes is better than 10, 10 is better than none.  Even if you only have a small amount of time, just make sure to move!

Brian ShieldsBRIAN SHIELDS:

My top tip is to remain flexible.  This starts with understanding that life will absolutely get in the way of your well-thought-out plan.  The key is to be able to adjust our workouts to fit within our dynamic lives – lives that are prone to stress, lack of sleep, excessive work schedules, family commitments, travel commitments, sickness, injury & setbacks.  We have to remind ourselves that, although improvement is awesome, daily improvement is not a realistic goal.   By adjusting, often temporarily, we learn to allow for the rough days without beating ourselves up mentally.  In the end, the adjustments one makes to the original plan will often speed the results we were looking for.  This is because set-backs challenge us to remain dynamic, engaged & forward thinking.

Renee BobrowskiRENEE BOBROWSKI:

The ol’ rabbit and carrot!  In January I sign up for a challenging summer event that really excites me.  I stay motivated by  visualizing myself crossing the finish line and getting a big hug from my husband (my biggest supporter!).  On a daily basis I view workouts as a part of everyday life and schedule them like an appointment.  Keeping it fun is also important – Coach Michelle challenges me and my friends in the Boise Aeros cycling group provide support for the suffering!  Surround yourself with great people and you will do great things!.

Grant HaagGRANT HAAG:

To keep motivated I sign up for races long in advance.  I also mix things like swimming, biking, yoga, plyometrics and running to help avoid injury and fatigue.  Since I’m quite busy at work I pack my swim bag and always have it in my car.  That way I can sneak out every once in a while to swim – no excuses!  When I travel I do the same things with my running shoes – again, no excuses!
