Back-to-Basics Attendance Champs!

It’s shout-out day!!  It’s time to celebrate the commitment that these Back-to-Basics Attendance Champs made over the last 2 months!

As you may know, Back-to-Basics (B-2-B) has been going on in my 5:30AM group swim class since Sept.  It’s a 2-month long program focused on basic technique for all 4 swim strokes.  It’s fast, it’s furious, it’s a quick introduction to each stroke…and it’s darn fun!

So, when you realize that some of your athletes have made EVERY SINGLE one of the 13 sessions…you gotta call them out!  Way to go, y’all!  I am so proud of your dedication & achievements!

In their own words:

💯 Jette J:  “The best thing about B-2-B is seeing your swim friends again!  It’s also a good way to ease into the endurance workouts by thinking about technique & form.  Every year there is something new to focus on…like what happens under water with our arms.  The 4 o’clock concept definitely made more sense this year!”

🤩 Harald D:  “It is all in the hips……and I will be working on that for a long time to come.”

🏆 Stephanie J:  “My favorite B-2-B focus was using my hips (instead of relying on my arms & legs) to propel me forward in the water.  I still have a long way to go in my stroke technique, but I can feel the little adjustments starting to make a big difference!”

🥇 Shane R:  “I think the best things about B-2-B are all the little ‘a-ha’ moments…like remembering to reach just a little bit more or to engage my core a bit more.  It’s so easy to get lazy or complacent with stroke technique over the summer race season.  B-2-B is a good way to reset!”

🎉 Jason R:  “I like B-2-B because the techniques & drills we learn aren’t ‘one & done’.  You can’t learn to swim well with 1 technique, 1 drill or 1 B-2-B session.  It takes constant practice & mindfulness to incorporate what you learn in B-2-B into your swim style.  Some of my favorite drills are Balance Drills because great balance is the foundation for effortless swimming!”
