A Lifestyle Transformation Story!

The start of a New Year often brings change, resolutions & pivots.  And what better way to kick off 2024 than to highlight a lifestyle transformation story!

As 80% of us can attest (that’s the percentage of folks who fall off the New Year’s Resolution wagon after about 6 wks), change is hard.  It often doesn’t stick.  That’s why I’m so proud of Atiq Zaman.  He made a 180-degree pivot in his lifestyle AND, more importantly, he’s kept it up!  Way to go, Atiq!  You are an inspiration, for sure!

In Atiq’s own words:

“For the past decade & a half I had not paid much attention to health & fitness.  I ate out every meal & did almost no physical activity.  Over the years I tried several times to cook my own meals & do some sort of exercise…but I couldn’t keep it up for more than a few weeks.

In Fall 2022 I decided to change my lifestyle.  I started by making my own dinner, then my own lunch & within a few months I was successfully making all 3 meals!  I also started doing long walks, short hikes, riding a bicycle & having fun on my motorcycle.

I had been thinking about learning to swim for a very, very long time.  It seems like an excellent form of exercise that I could do for the rest of my life.  A good friend of mine (who had taken swim lessons from Coach Michelle) encouraged me to consider swim lessons.  And, as of now, I have completed 7 sessions!

Learning to swim has become my dream.  It means a lot more than just being able to swim.  It means that I am able to commit to something & stick with it.  Now I begin 2024 full of energy to learn & improve my swimming.  I have a long way to go, but I am truly enjoying the process of learning new skills & am finding it so fun to be in water!”
